Naive Tibetan monk Roman Yunusov ends up in an ordinary Chelyabinsk family and finds the new Buddha Oleg Vereshchagin. He faces the task of making him reveal his great calling. The family surrounding Buddha is more complicated than ordinary Russian relationships: mother with hyper-care syndrome Natalia Ungard, empty-headed fiancée Olesya Yapparova, and uncle-alcoholic Sergey Rubeko. The guest from Tibet must overcome all the circles of provincial Russian samsara with Pavel Kabanov to know the true Russian Zen. At the end of the play, Valery begins to understand his Slavic soul, love for people and the Motherland, understands what it means to be needed by people and everything around.
