Scientists Declare Record Heatwave in Europe
According to the World Weather Attribution consortium, the heatwave affecting Western Europe has become the strongest and most extensive in the history of observations. Their assessment indicates that nearly half of the 850 largest European cities are experiencing a record heatwave due to a combination of high temperature and humidity. Researchers link this to climate change and warn that without reducing emissions, extreme heat will occur more frequently and become even more intense.
